The Shades of red project touches upon the issue of objectification and overexploitation of animals. In present times the animal and its body has been reduced to the level of product on an unprecedented scale. Farm animals have been completely deprived of any contact with nature. They live in isolation from the natural environment. The project titled Shades of red attempts at presenting the status of today’s animals and looking “behind the scene” to see how, with general approval, animals are treated as things which can be mass-produced, used and exploited. The objects-collages were created from fragments of supermarket advertising brochures which encourage customers to buy food at discount prices. The project focuses on finding the author’s own, innovative means of artistic expression within collage.
The object, woven from 3600 metres of wool was spread and hung on four branches in such a way that it did not pose any danger to the forest animals. Since then it has been observed and its transformations photographed. The Red cube interwoven into the forest space and left there has been undergoing changes, affected by external factors. The installation has gained a life of its own. The cube’s walls perform the function of matrixes, which absorb the traces that light, rain, snow and wind leave over time. The changing nature provides a surprising additional dimension to the installation, which renders the project alive and unpredictable and its duration depends only on the durability of the used material.
The Red cube installation was created in the forest administered by the Świerklaniec Forest Inspectorate.

In the 90s, 4 slaughterhouses were built near my family home and one of them was built next to my grandparents' house, in a meadow near the forest, where I, my sisters and other children often played. This place quickly changed its character. The sounds of the forest were drowned out by the squealing of pigs. The slaughterhouse is closed today, it was moved to a larger complex of slaughterhouses. The demand for meat is growing. The object- bone is a copy of one of the millions of pork bones. I made the object in the upcycling technique.
